personal data goes.

Who can enter?

The contest is open to the general public, including students, academics, data scientists, data journalists, and graphic designers. Group submissions are welcome with no more than three people per group.

Where/when do I submit?

Entries must be submitted via online form by the deadline on December 28, 2018 at 11:59PM (EST).

Entries must include:

  • Original code
  • A link to a GitHub repository containing the visualization
  • A link to a YouTube video or presentation containing a demo which highlights the features of the visualization

The data you will need to create your visualization is available on the Materials page along with a description of the data. There are two different datasets to choose from, but your group only needs to submit one visualization.

What are we looking for?

An outstanding visualization will:

  • Be original
  • Provide new insights or effectively highlight existing ones
  • Make the data accessible for all (i.e. the public, researchers, and policymakers, etc.)
  • Include interactive or dynamic data analysis

What will you win?

The winning individual or team will be invited to a free trip to Patient Privacy Rights Foundation (PPR) Health Privacy Summit on January 28-29, 2019 and receive prestigious recognition at the PPR ceremony dinner in Washington D.C. Their work will also be featured and promoted on theDataMap website.

The winner(s) will be announced on January 7, 2019.
